The Revolution did away with the 3 estates in which the nobility and clergy lorded heavily over the common people. Napoleon expanded on this, strengthening the central government and attempting to strengthen the economy instead of holding it in one area of the populace.

It was a bloody war that ended until 1918, killing millions of soldiers and civilians.
