First off we change the mixed numbers into an improper fraction.
This is how we do it
denominator x whole number + numerator.
9 x 3 + 5 = 32/9
8 x 1 + 7 = 15/8
Now we can multiply.
15 x 32 = 480
8 x 7 = 56
480/56
Since this is an improper fraction we have to change it to a mixed number
This is how we do it
numerator ÷ denominator
480 ÷ 56 = 8 32/56
8 32/56 simplified = 8 4/7
The answer is 8 4/7

I hope this helps!

40/9.   you have to simply it and make it an inproper fraction so it would be 224/63 - 504/63 which simplifies to 40/9.

A function g(x) has x-intercepts at (1/2, 0) and (6, 0). which could be g(x)?
AlexFokin [52]
The x-intercepts of a function are used to express the function into factored form:
From (1/2, 0)
(x - 1/2)

From (6, 0)
(x-6)

(x - 1/2) (x-6) = 0
(2x -1)(x-6) = 0

The function is:
B. g(x) = (x – 6)(2x – 1)

Solve x^2 +14x=15 by completing the square
ivanzaharov [21]

Answer:

x = -15 and x = 1

Step-by-step explanation:

Since we have to use the complete the square method, we first need to <u>rewrite the equation</u> in the form x^{2}+2ax+a^{2}=(x+a)^{2}.

This results in x^{2} + 14x + 7^{2} = 15 + 7^{2}.

Next, we <u>simplify the equation</u> to get x^{2} +14x+7^{2} = 64.

<u>Factoring </u>the left side gives us (x+7)^{2} = 64.

Finally we <u>solve the equations</u>: x+7=\sqrt{64} and x+7=-\sqrt{64}.

This gives us  x=1, and x=-15

Select the solution to the graph from the following points. Select all that apply.
stellarik [79]

Answer:

The solutions are:

(-15 , -4) ⇒ 1st

(3 , 2) ⇒ 3rd

(21 , 8) ⇒ 5th

Step-by-step explanation:

To find the solution of the graph let us make the equation of the line by using any two points on the line

The form of the linear equation is y = m x + b, where

  • m is the slope of the line
  • b is the y-intercept (value y at x = 0)

The formula of the slope is m=\frac{y_{2}-y_{1}}{x_{2}-x_{1}}

From the figure

∵ The line passes through points (-3 , 0) and (0 , 1)

- Find the slope of the line

∴ m=\frac{1-0}{0--3}=\frac{1}{3}

- Substitute the value of m in the form of the equation

∴ y = \frac{1}{3} x + b

∵ b is the value of y at x = 0

∵ y = 1 at x = 0 ⇒ y-intercept

∴ b = 1

∴ y = \frac{1}{3} x + 1

Lets substitute the x-coordinate of each point to find the y-coordinate, if the y-coordinate is equal to the y-coordinate of the points, then the point is a solution

Point (-15 , -4)

∵ x = -15

∴ y = \frac{1}{3} (-15) + 1

∴ y = -5 + 1 = -4 ⇒ same value of the point

∴ (-15 , -4) is a solution

Point (-6 , 1)

∵ x = -6

∴ y = \frac{1}{3} (-6) + 1

∴ y = -2 + 1 = -1 ⇒ not the same value of the point

∴ (-6 , 1) is not a solution

Point (3 , 2)

∵ x = 3

∴ y = \frac{1}{3} (3) + 1

∴ y = 1 + 1 = 2 ⇒ same value of the point

∴ (3 , 2) is a solution

Point (12 , 9)

∵ x = 12

∴ y = \frac{1}{3} (12) + 1

∴ y = 4 + 1 = 5 ⇒ not the same value of the point

∴ (12 , 9) is not a solution

Point (21 , 8)

∵ x = 21

∴ y = \frac{1}{3} (21) + 1

∴ y = 7 + 1 = 8 ⇒ same value of the point

∴ (21 , 8) is a solution

X squared -8x+14=2x-7
Stella [2.4K]

Answer:

x = 3 or x = 7

Step-by-step explanation:

X² - 8x + 14 = 2x - 7

x² - 8x + 14 - 2x + 7 = 0

Now we have a quadratic equation ;

x² - 10x + 21 = 0

-3 and - 7 gives a sum of - 10 and a product of 21

x² - 3x - 7x + 21 = 0

x(x - 3) - 7(x - 3) = 0

(x - 3) = 0 or (x - 7) = 0

x = 3 or x = 7
