7x+20+9x-2=180

16x+20-2=180

16x-18=180

+18 to both sides...

16x=198

divide by 16 to both sides...

Answers: ⇒ x=\frac{81}{8}

7x+20+9x-2=180

7x+9x+20-2=180

16x+20-2=180

16x+18=180

16x+18-18=180-18

16x=162

\frac{16x}{16}= \frac{162}{16}

x=\frac{81}{8}

Hope this helps!

during one month, a homeowner use 600 units of electricity and 100 units of gas for total cost of $412. The next month, 400 unit
Anastasy [175]
This is a simultaneous question.
To solve this, we have to make up 2 equations based on the info provided like so:

electricity = e
gas = g

600e + 100g = $412 ——(1)
400e + 150g = $293 ——(2)

In this case, it’ll be easier to use the elimination method where you eliminate a variable so you can calculate only one.

Here, we will be eliminating e so we can get the cost of gas.

To do this we need to get both equation’s e to 600, so we have to multiply equation 2 by 1.5:

(2) x 1.5:

400e + 150g = $293
600e + 225g = $439.50 ——(3)

Now we eliminate e by subtracting equation 1 from equation 3:

(3) - (1):
600e + 225g - 600e - 100g = $439.50 -$412

125g = $27.50
g = $0.22.

Therefore one unit of gas costs $0.22.

Hope it helps and have a good day ahead :D

Solve this system of equations using the addition method.<br> 5x + 2y = 19<br> x - 2y = -1
Elena-2011 [213]
2y+5x-5x= 19-5x. x-x-2y=-1-x
2y= 19-5x. -2y=-1-x
÷2= ÷2. ÷-2 = ÷-2
y= 19/2 -5/2x. Y = 1/2 + x/2

The initial number of views for a certain website was 15.
AURORKA [14]
Basically what is happening is:
You start out with 15. That 1st week you have 22% more than 15, or in other words 15*1.22. The following week you have 22% more than 22% more of 15, which is 15*1.22*1.22.

Now we can write a function that models this situation:
f(n): number of views
n: number of weeks since you started

f(n) = 15(1.22^n)

We want to find out how many views there are after four weeks, so plug 4 in for n.

f(4) = 15(1.22^4)
f(4) = 33.23

This means after 4 weeks you can expect the video to have 33 views.
