Woah! false. Room temperature is 25 degrees celsius, not 32 degrees celsius.  The food can't have a higher temperature than the room unless a source of heat is attached to it.

Or if you're in a universe where room temperature is 32 degrees celsius.

Answer is false

Answer: True. Food left at room temperature should be thrown out after 2 hours. If the room that the food is being held in is above 90 degrees, then the food should be discarded after one hour.

A Carnot engine operates between temperature levels of 600 K and 300 K. It drives a Carnot refrigerator, which provides cooling
KATRIN_1 [288]

Explanation:

Formula for maximum efficiency of a Carnot refrigerator is as follows.

      \frac{W}{Q_{H_{1}}} = \frac{T_{H_{1}} - T_{C_{1}}}{T_{H_{1}}} ..... (1)

And, formula for maximum efficiency of Carnot refrigerator is as follows.

     \frac{W}{Q_{C_{2}}} = \frac{T_{H_{2}} - T_{C_{2}}}{T_{C_{2}}} ...... (2)

Now, equating both equations (1) and (2) as follows.

 Q_{C_{2}} \frac{T_{H_{2}} - T_{C_{2}}}{T_{C_{2}}} = Q_{H_{1}} \frac{T_{H_{1}} - T_{C_{1}}}{T_{H_{1}}}

        \gamma = \frac{Q_{C_{2}}}{Q_{H_{1}}}

                    = \frac{T_{C_{2}}}{T_{H_{1}}} (\frac{T_{H_{1}} - T_{C_{1}}}{T_{H_{2}} - T_{C_{2}}})

                    = \frac{250}{600} (\frac{(600 - 300)K}{300 K - 250 K})

                    = 2.5

Thus, we can conclude that the ratio of heat extracted by the refrigerator ("cooling load") to the heat delivered to the engine ("heating load") is 2.5.

8. A 740 kg car traveling 19 m/s comes to a complete stop in 2.0 s. What is the force exerted on the car during this stop?
zaharov [31]
Force = mass * acceleration

acceleration = change_in_velocity / time

so:

force = 740 kg * (19 m/s - 0 m/s) / 2.0 s
= 740 * 19 / 2 kg m per second^{2}
= 7030 kg m per second^{2}
= 7030 newtons of force

A floating object oscillates up and down 2 complete cycles in 1 second as a water wave of wavelength 5 meters passes by. The spe
Elena-2011 [213]

Answer:

10 m/s

Explanation:

The speed of a wave is given by

v=\lambda f

where

\lambda is the wavelength

f is the frequency

For the wave in this problem,

- The frequency is given by the number of oscillations per second, so

f=\frac{2 cycles}{1 s}=2 Hz

- The wavelength is

\lambda=5 m

So, the wave speed is

v=(5 m)(2 Hz)=10 m/s
