If thou speak'st false, Upon the next tree shalt thou hang alive, Till famine cling thee: if thy speech be sooth, I care not if
Rina8888 [55]

This question is incomplete, but I will proceed to explain the meaning of these words.

Answer:

<u>Summary of the quote:</u>

This quote is said by Macbeth in Act 5 lines 37 - 51, the final act of this tragedy. Macbeth is talking to a guard, who informes him that he sees a "moving grove", in other words, a forest moving. This makes Macbeth realize that the witches lied to him, and that there is a chance that he would die, something that he thought to be impossible just a couple of lines above. He warns everybody that they should leave, but he assumes the role of the brave and honorable soldier that he used to be, and tells everyone to fight courageously.

<u>Line by line explanation:</u>

"If thou speak'st false, upon the next tree shalt thou hang alive, till famine cling thee:" <em> </em><em>If what you said is false, I will hang you alive on a tree until you starve to death.</em>

"If thy speech be sooth, I care not if thou dost for me as much" <em> If what you are saying is true, then I don't care so much (because we will all die anyway)</em>

"I pull in resolution, and begin to doubt the equivocation of the fiend that lies like truth:"<em> I begin to lose my confidence and doubt the words of the witches, that make lies look like truths.</em>

"Fear not, till Birnam wood comes toward Dunsinane: and now a wood comes toward Dunsinane." <em> These words are a reference to the witches' prophecy that said that Macbeth wouldn't be defeated until Birnam Wood would move towards Dunsinane. </em>

"Arm, arm, and out!" <em>"Grab your armour and swords, get ready to fight"</em>

"If this which he avouches does appear, there is nor flying hence nor tarrying here." <em>If what the guard is saying is true, then there is no way out of here"</em>

"I 'gin to be aweary of the sun, and wish the estate o'the world were now undone" <em>I begin to feel tired of this life and I wish the world would dissapear</em>

"Ring the alarum bell, blow wind! Come wrack" <em>Ring the alarm, let the storm rage"</em>

"At least we'll die with harness on our back" <em> At least we will die a couragous death. </em>

What effect does the jungle have on the boys? In Lord Of The Flies.
Veseljchak [2.6K]
The jungle makes them turn from civilized boys to savage beasts.  For example, the boys, especially Ralph and Piggy, immediately attempt to create a system of order on the island, reminiscent of their lives in British society.  However, the boys' animal like and primal instincts are brought out by the harshness of the jungle.  Examples of this include when the boys kill the pig brutally, when they kill Piggy and Simon in their rage, and when they attempt to kill Ralph.  Jack is the ringleader of the brutality, but the majority of the other boys, save Piggy and Ralph, and partially Samneric, become savage as well.

Good compare and contrast essay on anything due TODAY

INTRODUCTION

The saying “Men come from Mars and women come from Venus” is all based on the differences between the sexes. While feminists claim they want equal rights to men, it cannot be ignored that there are some basic differences between the two sexes. When these differences are taken into account, it becomes clear that in some cases women cannot enjoy an equal footing with men.

WOMEN

There are certain things that women can do far better than most men can. These tasks include:

Multi-tasking

Being in touch with feelings and emotions

Able to learn new tasks at a quicker rate than men

Of course there are exceptions to the rule as many men may claim. However women do tend to excel at intelligence and language skills. These skills have long helped women both in their careers and at home where they struggle between raising a family and raising the money necessary to keep the family in all that they need.

IDEAL CAREERS FOR WOMEN

With skills such as intelligence, caring and language skills, there are many careers that are perfect for most women. Careers that are said to be women’s work include:

Nursery nurse

Nursing

Social care

Secretary

Receptionist

There are many others that can be added to this list. However with skills such as intelligence and language, women also make good bosses and many find themselves moving up the career ladder.

MEN

Men tend to fare better in ideas of strength other than intelligence. Men also tend to be far more aggressive than women. This strength and aggression allows men to excel at sports such as:

Boxing Weightlifting Martial Arts Body Building

IDEAL CAREERS FOR MEN

Not only is this strength and aggression found in sports but also in careers that many claim to be men’s work. These jobs include:

Mechanics

Builders

Plumbers

There are some exceptions to the rules as yes there are some women who undertake these careers but on the whole they are seen to be jobs for men.

CONCLUSION

Women tend to be better at some things and men at others. There will always be the exception to this rule as yes some men can be seen to be more feminine than others. It is also said that some women can be seen to be more masculine than others. However on the whole there is a big difference between men and women that cannot be ignored.
