Under Article I, Section 2 of the Constitution, seats in the House of Representatives are apportioned among the states by population, as determined by the census conducted every ten years. Each state is entitled to at least one representative, however small its population.
The house of Representatives have equal responsibility for lawmaking just like US Senate. The house represents popular will and the members are directly elected by the people. Each state have at least one member in Houseof Representatives. <em>States are allocated seats according to their population and it is readjusted after decennial census.

They are elected form single-member districts for a two-year term. A person who wants to get elected to the house of representatives must be 25 years old, resident of the state from where he wants to contest election and must be a US citizen for at least seven years.
