The squares are identical. What is the area of each square?

Mathematics
1 answer:
Nastasia [14]3 years ago
6 0

Answer:

A = 256 units^2

Step-by-step explanation:

If the squares are identical, then the side lengths are identical

3x+7 = 5x+1

Subtract 3x from each side

3x+7-3x = 5x-3x+1

7 = 2x+1

Subtract 1

7-1 =2x+1-1

6 = 2x

Divide by 2

6/2 =2x/2

3 =x

The side length is 3x+7 = 3*3 +7 = 9+7 = 16

The area is

A = s^2 where s is the side length

A = 16^2

A = 256 units^2

Is this right ? Im honestly confused
fgiga [73]

Answer:

In step by step

Step-by-step explanation:

For #1, everything is perfect.

For #2, you wrote your functions out incorrectly, but your x input and y output are correct

#3 is a little messed up.

Your function is f(x)=-3x+1. Your given x's are -3, -1, 0, 1, 2, and 3. Plug all of these in.

1. f(-3)=-3(-3)+1

 • f(-3)=9+1
 • f(-3)=1

2. f(-1)=-3(-1)+1

 • f(-1)=3+1
 • f(-1)=4

3. f(0)=-3(0)+1

 • f(0)=0+1
 • f(0)=1

4. f(1)=-3(1)+1

 • f(1)=-3+1
 • f(1)=-3

5. f(2)=-3(2)+1

 • f(2)=-6+1
 • f(2)=-5

What are the x-intercepts for the graph of y=3(x - 2)(x+6)?
WARRIOR [948]

Answer:

A

Step-by-step explanation:

Put Y=0

0 = 3(x - 2)(x + 6) \\

Now

x - 2 = 0 \\ x = 2 \\ \\ \\ x + 6 = 0 \\ x = - 6 \\ \\

so A is right option

What is the equation of the quadratic graph with a focus of (5,6) and a directrix of y=2
Varvara68 [4.7K]
Check the picture below, notice the distance from the focus to the directrix

bear in mind that, the vertex is a distance "p" from the focus point and a distance "p" from the directrix, that simply means, the vertex is half-way between both of those fellows

in this case, the focus point is above the directrix, that means, the parabola is vertical and opens upwards, "p" is a positive number for the focus/point form

\bf \textit{parabola vertex form with focus point distance}\\\\
\begin{array}{llll}

(x-{{ h}})^2=4{{ p}}(y-{{ k}}) \\
\end{array}
\qquad
\begin{array}{llll}
vertex\ ({{ h}},{{ k}})\\\\
{{ p}}=\textit{distance from vertex to }\\
\qquad \textit{ focus or directrix}
\end{array}

so.. check the graph, you know what h,k are, and p, so, plug them in
