Christopher believes that metaphors are lies since they do not reflect actual facts. Further, his name is a metaphor, which means "carrying Christ". ... His distaste for ambiguous language is again made clear with the example of metaphor. Throughout the novel, we learn that Christopher has trouble understanding anything that is not literal. He considers metaphors to be lies, because he does not understand them. He also has trouble reading signs because they are not literal enough.

A person standing on the ground beneath an airplane notices that the jet flying overhead extends
Lena [83]

The angle given illustrates that the altitude computed in this scenario will be 497.5 feet.

How to calculate the altitude

From the information given, the jet flying overhead extends from one end to the other an angle of 50° and the length of the jet is 250 feet.

Let the altitude be represented by x.

Therefore, the altitude will be:

Tan 50° = opposite/hypotenuse

1.1918 = x/250

x = 1.1918 × 250

x = 497.5 feet

Therefore, the altitude is 497.5 feet.
