A doctor is studying a disease where the nucleus of a cell does not grow properly. What do you think would happen to the cells'
Drupady [299]

Answer:

The cell would fail to function. It would likely fail to properly replicate DNA properly or transcribe genes.

Explanation:

The nucleus holds the genetic information, the DNA. If the nucleus does not grow properly, the DNA might not fit or be properly organized inside. This would mean DNA replication could not proceed as normal, and the DNA might not even be able to fit inside the nucleus!

The cell would also struggle to properly transcribe the DNA if the nucleus is not fully formed. DNA acts as a template for mRNA transcription, which directs protein synthesis. The cell will very quickly die if there are inaccuracies in protein synthesis due to mRNA not being adequately synthesized.

Which form of natural selection on polygenic traits results in the creation of two distinct phenotypes? A. Directional selection
mojhsa [17]

Answer;

-Disruptive selection

Disruptive selection results in the creation of two distinct phenotypes.

Explanation;

-Disruptive selection is a type of natural selection that selects against the average individual in a population. The make up of this type of population would show phenotypes of both extremes but have very few individuals in the middle.

-The variance of the trait increases and the population is divided into two distinct groups. The disruptive selection will cause organisms with intermediate traits to reproduce less, and will allow those organisms with extreme traits to reproduce more.
