Give two examples each for conduction, convection, and radiation.

Conduction - heating a tin can with the use of a bunsen burner, a cold iron skillet placed on a stovetop which is hot
Convection - boiling of water, hot air balloon
Radiation - UV from the sun, x-rays from an x-ray equipment

Find out whether combustion reactions are exothermic or endothermic, and explain why.
Combustion reactions are exothermic reactions since they always produce or release heat. The reactants would always have more energy than the products which causes the excess heat to be released.

<span>Find a substance that has a specific heat that is higher than liquid water and explain what it means.
The substance which has a higher heat capacity than water would be the hydrogen gas. It has a heat capacity of 13.83 kJ/kg K. Having a higher heat capacity would mean that it requires more heat energy in order to increase the temperature as compared to water.

Why does rubisco make up about half of the protein content in a typical chloroplast?
sweet-ann [11.9K]

Rubisco makes up about half of the protein that content in a typical chloroplast and it is very inefficient enzyme, the catalyzing only have three reactions per second

A chloroplast is the organelle within the cells of the plants and the certain algae that is the site of the photosynthesis, which is in the process by which the energy from the Sun is converted into the chemical energy for the growth.

Chloroplasts are the plant cell organelles that is convert light energy into the relatively stable which chemical energy via photosynthetic by the process. By doing this so, they are sustain life on the Earth. Chloroplasts is also provide the diverse metabolic activities for the plant cells, that including the synthesis of the fatty acids, and the membrane lipids

During which phase of mitosis do the nuclear membrane, nucleolus, and nucleus dissolve?
Veseljchak [2.6K]
Telophase because the chromosomes reach poles and new nuclear membranes form around the chromosomes, creating the nuclei for two new cells. The chromosomes decondense and the cell splits into two daughter cells, each with a nucleus.

A microbial ecologist wants to study a bacterium that is adapted to growth in lake water containing very low nutrient concentrat
vladimir2022 [97]

Hello. You forgot to enter the answer options. The options are:

"A) This organism cannot be grown in the lab.  B) a batch culture using a low-nutrient medium  C) on Petri plates containing a low-nutrient medium  D) a chemostat using a low-nutrient medium"

Answer:

D) a chemostat using a low-nutrient medium

Explanation:

The most appropriate culture medium for this bacteria to be grown in the laboratory is a chemostat using a medium with low nutrient content. This is because this culture provides similar resources to the resources that this bacteria finds in its natural habitat. Thus it would be possible for these bacteria to develop in the laboratory, presenting characteristics similar to those it presents in nature, allowing the full study of this microorganism.

Culture media products prepared to provide nutrients necessary for the growth of microorganisms outside their natural habitats. These media are prepared in laboratories and are essential for all branches of microbiology.
