They all spoke Greek, and worshipped the same gods but they were separated into independent city-states, each with its own king. They made weapons and armor out of Bronze, giving this age the name of "The Bronze Age."  They sometimes started battles between city-states by one-on-one combat and each city-state carried their champion to battle by chariot.
