The Veto power is the power granted to the US President as a part of the Checks and Balances system. The President has the power to refuse to approve a bill or joint resolution and prevent its enactment into law. The President has 10 days to sign a bill or to veto it. The Veto can be overridden by 2/3 of both houses, if this occurs, the bill becomes law.
