After California become part of the United State, many Californians who had lived there when it was still part of Mexico lost their lands. This is due to the laws passed by Anglos, which strips the Californians the right to their lands. For instance,  it was the time of gold rush in California, the Anglos decided that since California has become part of USA, the gold found in California belongs to the USA government and its citizens.
