Henry david thoreau to what extent do you think thoreaus intended audience agreed with him

Henery's intended audience disagrees with his work because when his work on Walden was published, It mainly focused on young men who were bachelors. In this period more men joined universities compared to women, an excellent example in the economics chapter, Henery points out that " the mass of men lead lives of quite a desperation", a statement that was directed to old men who were locked out of the world or having responsibilities at work and family care.
Thoreau work is recommended more to society compared to being a directive to young men and bachelors. It should be read by the general community.
