Synthetic folic acid is taken as dietary supplement. Folic acid helps the body in producing and maintaining red blood cells. Deficiency of folic acid can cause anemia. The women who are pregnant must take folic acid to avoid miscarriage of the fetus. It maintains the pregnancy by helping in synthesis of red blood cells.
