<h2>Answer:</h2><h2>If the speed of the current is 11 mph, what is the speed of the ferry is 77 mph</h2>

Step-by-step explanation:

Given , a ferry can travel 80 miles with the current in the same amount of time it takes to travel 60 miles against the current.

Speed of the current = 11 mph

Let the speed of the ferry be x

Therefore, the equation becomes

\frac{80}{x + 11}  = \frac{60}{x - 11}

cross multiplying the equation, we get

80 (x - 11) = 60 (x + 11)

80x - 880 = 60x + 660

20x = 1540

x = 77

Speed of ferry = 77 mph

Consider the two vectors A with arrow = 3 î − ĵ and B with arrow = − î − 2 ĵ. (a) Calculate A with arrow + B with arrow 2 Correc
Verdich [7]

Answer:

Let \vec{A}=3\hat{i}-\hat{j} and \vec{B}=-\hat{i}-2\hat{j}.

a)

\vec{A}+\vec{B}=(3\hat{i}-\hat{j})+(-\hat{i}-2\hat{j})=2\hat{i}-3\hat{j}

b)

\vec{A}-\vec{B}=(3\hat{i}-\hat{j})-(-\hat{i}-2\hat{j})=4\hat{i}+\hat{j}

c) Now we calculate the direction of \vec{A}+\vec{B} and  \vec{A}-\vec{B}

We calculate the direction of \vec{A}+\vec{B} like this:

\theta=tan^{-1}(\frac{-3}{2})=-56,3^{\circ}. Since, 270\leq\theta\leq360, then the direction of \vec{A}+\vec{B} is 360^{\circ}-\theta=360^{\circ}-56.3^{\circ}=303.7^{\circ}.

Now, for \vec{A}-\vec{B}

\theta=tan^{-1}(\frac{1}{4})=14^{\circ}.

You are buying 3.5 lbs of grapes. They are on sale for $1.19/1b. How much should the grapes cost?
frosja888 [35]

Answer:

$4.17

Step-by-step explanation:

I'm guessing you meant 1lb instead of 1b so I will answer based on that. Since you pay $1.19 for one pound you can multiply that by 3.5, multiply 1.19 by 3 and than half of 1.19, or add 1.19 three times than add half of it once. Anyway you do it you get your answer of $4.165 which rounds to $4.17 your answer.
