Answer:

Length=9 inches,width=4 inches, height =2 inches.

k= -\frac{111}{8}

Step-by-step explanation:

a) If by synethetic division method the remainder equals i.e in the last row and last column if figure yield is 0 then 2 is one of the factor i.e one of the solution of given equation.

Remainder is 0.

Hence 2 is the solution of given equation.

b) Given a box having volume 72 cubic inches

   Let Height = x inches

   ∵ length is 7 inches more than the height

  ⇒     Length = x+7 inches

  & also width is twice the height

 ⇒      Width = 2\times x

   Given   Volume = 72 cubic inches

   length\times width\times height = 72

   (x+7)\times (2x)\times x - 72 = 0

From part a, 2 is the solution of above equation

⇒       Length = x+7 = 2+7 = 9 inches

          Width = 2\times2 = 4 inches

         Height = x = 2 inches

Given 4x-3 is a factor of 20x^3+23x^{2} -10x+k

Hence, 20(\frac{3}{4})^3 +23(\frac{3}{4}) ^{2} -10(\frac{3}{4})+k=0

            \frac{135}{16}+\frac{207}{16}-\frac{120}{16} +k=0

                   \frac{111}{8}+k=0

                      k= -\frac{111}{8}

Hurry please find the values of x and y
MrRissso [65]
Answer:
Y=70
X= 20
You do first the adjacent angles 180-40 so 140 then u have that the triangle is isosceles so the bas angles are equal 180 -140 = 40
40 divided by 2 20 and 20 so x= 20
Then 90 -20 is 70
So 180 - (70+40)
180-110=70 so y= 70
Hope you understand

Determine whether the sequence is arithmetic, geometric, or neither, and justify your response.
Kobotan [32]

9514 1404 393

Answer:

  geometric

Step-by-step explanation:

The signs of the terms alternate, so it cannot be an arithmetic sequence.

The ratios of terms are ...

  6/-3 = -12/6 = 24/-12 = -2

The terms have a constant ratio of -2, so the sequence is geometric.

Find the length of the shorter leg of a right triangle if the longer leg is 7 feet more than the shorter leg and the hypotenuse
gtnhenbr [62]
You can use the pythagorean theorem.
a^{2} + b^{2} = c^{2}
Now lets write out what we know.

Shorter leg = x
Longer Leg = x + 7
Hypotenuse = x - 7

a^{2} + b^{2} = c^{2}
Now solve for x
x^{2} + (x+7)^{2} = (2x-7)^{2}
x = 28
Since you know x = 28, which is the shorter leg, you can solve for the rest by just plugging in 28 where x is located. For instance, longer let is x + 7 so
28 + 7 = 35

How would you write 1 - x^4 before you divide it by x - 1?
Taya2010 [7]

Answer:

See below.

Step-by-step explanation:

A good idea would be to write if as:

-x^4 + 0x^3 + 0x^2 + 0x + 1,   then you can perform long division.
