Of all the numbers whose difference is 36, find the two that have the minimum product

Mathematics

8 0

Answer:

54,18

Step-by-step explanation:

Let one of the numbers be x. The other number be represented as 36-x

(x-(36-x ) = 36

open brackets

x - 36 + x = 36

x + x = 36+ 36 = 72

2x = 72

x = 72/2 = 36

x = 36

The product can then be represented as y = x(36-x) or y=36x-x²

The maximum or minimum is always on the axis of symmetry which has the formula x=-b/2a.

In our case, the axis of symmetry is -36/-2, so x=18.

If one number is 18 and the 2 numbers differentiate by 36, the other number is 18 + 36 = 54

So the 2 numbers are 18 and 54 and the minimum product is 972

NEED HELP SOON!!!!
for any numbers a, b, and c, a(b + c)=ab+ac
navik [9.2K]

The property displayed here is the distributive property.

If you have a variable or unknown number inside or outside of parentheses, you can distribute it to each term and add the terms together, and it will remain true.

Example:

4(x + 5)

After distributing, it'll look like this:

4x + 20

Sara put 7 boxes in her closet. Each box is for holding a different type of seashell. So far, there are 0 shells in each box. Ho
user100 [1]

Given that Sara put 7 boxes in her closet.

So number of boxes = 7

Then it says that each box is for holding a different type of seashell. So far, there are 0 shells in each box.

So the number of seashell in 1 box = 0

We need to find about how many shells does Sara have.

To find that we will just multiply (number of boxes) by (number of seashell in 1 box). Which is given by 7 times 0.

we know that product of a number and 0 is always 0.

Hence final answer is 0 seashell.

You believe that eating an apple a day is healthy and want to design an experiment to find out. You have available 40 volunteers
Gwar [14]

The best design for this experiment would be a repeated measures design. This is ideal to determine if eating an apple makes you healthy.

What is an experimental design?

An experimental design refers to the general structure of an experiment including how people are distributed into the control and experimental group to test a specific phenomenon.

What is a repeated measures design?

In a repeated measures design all participants are both parts of the control group, in this case, people who do not eat apples, and the experimental group, or people who eat apples.

What does this design imply?

In the case of determining if eating an apple every day, this design implies:

 • All participants will be asked to not eat apples every day for a specific period such as one or two months, and health levels will be measured during this time.
 • After the first step, all participants will be asked to eat an apple every day during the period, and their health will be measured.
 • The researcher can compare the results of each participant, which is more accurate than comparing one participant to another.
