In book 16th of Odysseus, Odysseus reveals his identity to Telemachus. What does the reaction of the two characters tell us abou
Scorpion4ik [409]

Answer:

They were in touch with their emotions.

Explanation:

When Odysseus reveals his identity to Telemachus, both the characters started crying. Odysseus then kisses his son and they both allow their emotions to flow. This highlights that the Greeks were open in terms of expressing their emotions and had an open attitude towards the expression of emotion. It does differ from the American culture where I think that showing emotions is still considered a weakness for men. An American man is still supposed to not cry in front of their family or in public and is not supposed to show emotions of too much love or too much anger. Only in movies we tend to hear or see emotional scenes with anger or love but in real we still refrain from showing emotions.

What are Kant's objections to taking the consequences of actions as being of "moral worth"? Can you find textual support in Kant
soldier1979 [14.2K]

Answer:

Kants believe that there actions that are good consequently to a lot of people. They may benefit a lot of people particularly in the society -- It does not make sense if the actions are not morally upright. Lucky, perhaps. But we can not say an action is lucky because they are gooo morally or they are unlucky because they are morally wrong

And utilitarians believe the proper way to evaluate an action is in the consequences. If more people derive more benefits than the other options, then it is morally good and that's all there is to be said.

For Kant, that is not all there is to be said.

evaluation of  the moral worth of action by Utilitarian moral theories  on the basis of happiness that is produced by an action.

Kant has an objection to moral evaluations of this sort. The reason behind is objection is that utilitarian theories  devalue the individuals it is supposed to benefit.

Kent alos objects because the utilitarian theories is bent on man inclination for happiness and pleasure not by universal moral laws.

Critics like to point out that the theory of evolution is flawed because it is based on random changes: mutations. They say that
madreJ [45]

Answer:

That you can say that even if mutations are random, and even if some of those random mutations are harmful to an organism, it doesn't mean that all random mutations are harmful. Some mutations are beneficial, and some neutral. Besides, it is not logical to point out at Tvs or Cars as examples of what random mutations can do because those are not living organisms and they do not mutate by themselves.
