Mrs. Julien’s and Mrs. Castillejo’s classes are selling cookie dough for a school fundraiser. Customers can buy packages of maca

damia nut chip cookie dough and packages of triple chocolate cookie dough. Mrs. Julien’s class sold 25 packages of macadamia nut chip cookie dough and 30 packages of triple chocolate cookie dough for a total of $112.50. Mrs. Castillejo’s class sold 8 packages of macadamia nut chip cookie dough and 45 packages of triple chocolate cookie dough for a total of $124.50
(a) Write the system of equations that model the problem. Be sure to explain which equation represents which situation.

(b) Find the cost of each type of cookie. Show your work.
(c) Explain which method you used to solve the system and why you chose that method.

Answer: the cost of one package of macadamia nut chip cookie dough is $1.5

the cost of one package of triple chocolate cookie dough is $2.5

Step-by-step explanation:

Let x represent the cost of one package of macadamia nut chip cookie dough.

Let y represent the cost of one package of triple chocolate cookie dough.

Mrs. Julien’s class sold 25 packages of macadamia nut chip cookie dough and 30 packages of triple chocolate cookie dough for a total of $112.50. This means that

25x + 30y = 112.5 - - - - - - - - - - - - -1

Mrs. Castillejo’s class sold 8 packages of macadamia nut chip cookie dough and 45 packages of triple chocolate cookie dough for a total of $124.50. This means that

8x + 45y = 124.5 - - - - - - - - - - -2

Multiplying equation 1 by 8 and equation 2 by 25, it becomes

200x + 240y = 900

200x + 1125 = 3112.5

Subtracting, it becomes

- 885y = - 2212.5

y = - 2212.5/- 885

y = 2.5

Substituting y = 2.5 into equation 1, it becomes

25x + 30 × 2.5 = 112.5

25x + 75 = 112.5

25x = 112.5 - 75 = 37.5

x = 37.5/25 = 1.5

The method used is the elimination method. It is more convenient to use.

My answer -

<span>1. Use symbols (not words) to express quotient

2. Use exponent symbol (^) to denote exponents

3. Just write out question number, question, and choices. No need for extra information (such as points). Also, don't leave blank lines between choices. This extraneous that we don't need just makes your whole question very very long, and means a lot of scrolling on our part.

4. You should only post 2 or 3 questions at a time.

1) (6x^3 − 18x^2 − 12x) / (−6x) = −x^2 + 3x + 2 ----> so much simpler to read !

2) (d^7 g^13) / (d^2 g^7) = d^(7−2) g^(13−7) = d^5 g^6 ----> much easier to read !

3) (4x − 6)^2 = 16x^2 − 24x − 24x + 36 = 16x^2 − 48x + 36

4) (x^2 / y^5)^4 = (x^2)^4 / (y^5)^4 = x^8 / y^20

5) (3x + 5y)(4x − 3y) = 12x^2 − 9xy + 20xy − 15y^2 = 12x^2 + 11xy − 15y^2

6) (3x^3y^4z^4)(2x^3y^4z^2) = (3*2) x^(3+3) y^(4+4) z^(4+2) = 6 x^6 y^8 z^6

7) 5x + 3x^4 − 7x^3 ----> Fourth degree trinomial

8) (5x^3 − 5x − 8) + (2x^3 + 4x + 2) = 7x^3 − x − 6

9) (x − 1) + (2x + 5) − (x + 3) = x + 1

10) (−4g^8h^5k^2)0(hk^2)^2 = 0 (anything multiplied by 0 = 0)
or.. (−4g^8h^5k^2)^0(hk^2)^2 = 1 (h^2 (k^2)^2) = h^2 k^4

Last question shows why it is so important to use proper symbols (such as ^ to indicate exponents). Without such symbols, I could not tell if the 0 was an actual number and part of multiplication, of if 0 was an exponent of the expression preceding it.

P.S

Glad to help you have an AWESOME!!! day :)

The human body has a normal temperature of 98.6°F. Doctors will get worried if a sick patient has a temperature that varies from
makvit [3.9K]

Answer:

|T- 98.6| \geq 3

And in order to solve this we have two possibilities:

Solution 1

T -98.6 \leq -3

And solving for T we got:

T \leq 98.6- 3

T\leq 95.6

Solution 2

And the other options would be:

T -98.6 \geq 3

T \geq 101.6

Step-by-step explanation:

For this case we can define the variable os interest T as the real temperature and we know that if we are 3 F more than the value of 98.6 we will be unhealthy so we can set up the following equation:

|T- 98.6| \geq 3

And in order to solve this we have two possibilities:

Solution 1

T -98.6 \leq -3

And solving for T we got:

T \leq 98.6- 3

T\leq 95.6

Solution 2

And the other options would be:

T -98.6 \geq 3

T \geq 101.6

Show work, please someone help me, i'm confused still on this concept.
BigorU [14]
Answer: choice C) -15x^4y

-----------------------------------------

Explanation:

The coefficients are -3 and 5. They are the numbers to the left of the variable terms
Multiply the coefficients to get -3*5 = -15. So -15 is the coefficient in the answer

Multiply the x terms to get x^3 times x = x^(3+1) = x^4. Notice the exponents are being added

Do the same for the y terms as well: y^2 times y^(-1) = y^(2+(-1)) = y^(2-1) = y^1 = y

So we have a final coefficient of -15, the x terms simplify to x^4 and the y terms simplify to just y

Put this all together and we end up with -15x^4y which is what choice C is showing
