In a clinical trial, out of patients taking a prescription drug daily complained of flulike symptoms. Suppose that it is known

that % of patients taking competing drugs complain of flulike symptoms. Is there sufficient evidence to conclude that more than % of this drug's users experience flulike symptoms as a side effect at the level of significance?

Answer:

Step-by-step explanation:

Hello!

Out of 846 patients taking a prescription drug daily, 18 complained of flulike symptoms.

It is known that the population proportion of patients that take the drug of the competition and complain of flulike is 1.8%

Be the variable of interest:

X: number of patients that complained of flulike symptoms after taking the prescription drug, out of 846.

sample proportion p'= 18/846= 0.02

You have to test if the population proportion of patients that experienced flulike symptoms as a side effect is greater than 1.8% (p>0.018)

Assuming that the patients for the clinical trial were randomly selected.

The expected value for this  sample is np=846*0.02= 1658 (the expected value of successes is greater than 10) and the sample is less than 10% of the population, you can apply the test for the proportion:

The hypotheses are:

H₀: p ≤ 0.018

H₁: p > 0.018

α: 0.01

Z= \frac{p'-p}{\sqrt{\frac{p(1-p)}{n} } }≈N(0;1)

Z_{H_0}= \frac{0.02-0.018}{\sqrt{\frac{0.018*0.982}{846} } }= 0.437

The p-value for this test is  0.331056

The decision rule is

If p-value ≤ α, reject the null hypothesis

If p-value > α, do not reject the null hypothesis

The p-value is greater than α, the decision is to reject the null hypothesis.

So at 1% significance level there is no significant evidence to reject the null hypothesis, you can conclude that the population proportion of patients that took the prescription drug daily and experienced flulike symptoms as a side effect is less or equal to 1.8%

I hope this helps!

Wiley wants to make as many snack
Ghella [55]

Answer:

Wiley can make 10 snack packs.

Step-by-step explanation:

Assuming that you can't put a fraction of one item in a snack pack and yoou must use all the items, Each pack must contain a integer number of items. The smallest possible way is for each snack pack to contain 3 slices of cheese and 4 crackers. This results in a total of 10 snack packs.

A sequence is defined recursively by the following rules: f(1)=3f(n+1)=2⋅f(n)−1 Which of the following statements is true about
Radda [10]

Answer:

f(2)=5

f(5)=33

Step-by-step explanation:

The given formula, that recursively defines the sequence is

f(1) = 3 \\ f(n + 1) = 2f(n) - 1

When n=1, we obtain;

f(1+ 1) = 2f(1) - 1 \\ f(2) = 2 \times 3 - 1 \\ f(2) = 6 - 1 \\ f(2) = 5

When n=2, we get:

f(2+ 1) = 2f(2) - 1 \\ f(3) = 2 \times 5 - 1 \\ f(3) = 10 - 1 \\ f(3) = 9

When n=3,

f(3 + 1) = 2f(3) - 1 \\ f(4) = 2f(3) - 1 \\ f(4) = 2 \times 9 - 1 \\ f(4) = 18 - 1 \\ f(4) = 17

When n=4

f(4 + 1) = 2 f(4) - 1 \\ f(5) = 2 \times 17 - 1 \\ f(5) = 34 - 1 \\ f(5) = 33

When n=5,

f(6) = 65

What is the surface area of this
Taya2010 [7]
6.7*6.7 to find the surface area of the base which is 44.89
4*1/2*10.1*6.7 to fix the surface area of all four triangular faces which is 135.34
Plus them together 44.89+135.34 which is 180.23

HELP PLEASE!!! I NEED THIS NOWWWWW!!
Ugo [173]

Part A - linear functions change at a constant rate.. while exponential functions change at a constant percent rate... that sounds the same but it's not.  A linear function will go up (or down) the same amount when the time period is the same...  like up 1,000 more visitors every month... if this happens, when you subtract the visitors for month 10-month 9, you will get the same answer as when you subtract he visitors for month 9-month 8.

An exponential function will go up by the same % when the time period is the same... so it'd be like if it went from 1,000 to 1,100 (that's up 100, which is 10% of 1,000) and then from 1,100 to 1,210 (that's up by 110, which is 10% of 1,100). If this happens you get the same answer when you divide the visitors for month 10 by the visitors from month 9 as you get when you divide the visitors for month 9 by the visitors from month 8.    (sometimes because of decimals you only get really really close to the same but that counts).

This one is exponential because dividing gets you around 2.09 every time

Part B

Since dividing # of visitors by the # from the month before gets you around 2.09 each time, we multiply that by 100 to get the % version of the decimal.

So that's 209%... but that's not how much it changes by or grows by... that's what it ends up.  It goes from itself (100%) to a bigger # (209%).. that's a 209-100 = 109% increase each month.

Part C

you need to think a little bit about what's going on in class.... becasue there are a bunch of different ways to do this. Sometimes you make an equation, sometimes you work backwards.

Here's one way... since multiplying visitors from week 8 by 2.09 gets you week 9 visitors.. and multipliying week 9 visitors by 2.09 gets you week 10... etc.... we can go backwards...

Week 7 visitors times 2.09 would equal the week 8 visitors

so,  w(2.09)=5.74

if we divide both sides by 2.09 we get w is equal to about 2.7464...  so the week 7 visitors is about 2.7464 (thousands) or 2,746.

Hope that helps
