8 oz = 184 mg of caffeine
12 oz = 1/5 of 184 mg of caffeine

Let's say 12oz is x:

x = 184 * 1/5       or       x = 184 / 5
x= 36,8
x = 37                 (after rounding to the nearest whole number)

Answer: There are about 37 mg of caffeine in a 12 oz soft drink.

Answer:

Let x be the quantity of caffeine in 12 oz of soft drink (in mg )

Given,

The quantity of caffeine in 8 oz cup of coffee = 184 mg,

According to the question,

5 times of x =  caffeine in 8 oz cup of coffee,

⇒ 5x = 184

Which is the required equation,

By solving it,

x=\frac{184}{5}

⇒ x = 36.8 ≈ 37,

Thus, the caffeine in 12 oz of soft drink is 37 mg.

Kiran has 10 1/2 feet of lumber and wants to make a bookshelfKiran needs two side panels that are each 5 2/3 feet. How much more
eimsori [14]

Total height of lumber, H = 10 1/2 feet = 21/2 feet .

Height of side panel, h = 5 2/3 feet = 17/3 feet .

Now,

Extra lumber required, L = 2 × Height of side panel - Total height of lumber

L=[2\times (\dfrac{17}{3})]-\dfrac{21}{2}\\\\L = \dfrac{5}{6}\ feet

Therefore, extra lumber required is \dfrac{5}{6} feet.

Hence, this is the required solution.

The endpoints of AB¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ are 8 and 16. Find the coordinate of the point P that partitions the segment in the ratio 3 : 1.
Marina CMI [18]

Answer:

The coordinates of the point P is 14.

Step-by-step explanation:

Let point A is at 8 and B is at 16.

P is the point where the line segment in the ratio 3 : 1.

This is also where P is \frac{3}{4} rds the distance from A to B

The total distance is |16 - 8| = 8

The distance between point AB is 8 units.

\frac{3}{4} of 8 is 6.

So, the point P is 6 units from A .

8 + 6 = 14

P is at 14

Hence, the coordinates of the point P is 14.

This also works if you go 1/3 from B.

-8 is 4 from -4 which is 1/3 of 12.
