Find the slope and y intercept of the line represented by each table
zvonat [6]

Answer:

see explanation

Step-by-step explanation:

The equation of a line in slope- intercept form is

y = mx + c ( m is the slope and c the y- intercept )

Calculate m using the slope formula

(1)

m = (y₂ - y₁ ) / (x₂ - x₁ )

with (x₁, y₁ ) = (2, 22) and (x₂, y₂ ) = (4, 32) ← 2 ordered pairs from the table

m = \frac{32-22}{4-2} = \frac{10}{2} = 5, thus

y = 5x + c ← is the partial equation

To find c substitute any ordered pair from the table into the partial equation

Using (6, 42), then

42 = 30 + c ⇒ c = 42 - 30 = 12

Thus Table 1 has slope = 5 and y- intercept = 12

(2)

Using (x₁, y₁ ) = 2, 15) and (x₂, y₂ ) = (1,8) ← 2 ordered pairs from the table

m = \frac{8-15}{1-2} = \frac{-7}{-1} = 7, thus

y = 7x + c ← is the partial equation

To find c substitute (3, 22) into the partial equation

22 = 21 + c ⇒ c = 22- 21 = 1

Thus Table 2 has slope = 7 and y- intercept = 1

Help me please!!! Answers or helping figuring it out would be great.
anyanavicka [17]
For absolute value, you are trying to figure out how many spaces it will take from that number to 0.

For example, if I was given the problem
| 3 |, I would ask myself "How do I get from 3 to 0? Since it takes you 3 spaces to get to 0, the answer will be 3. The same goes for any problem. If there is a negative sign in front of the absolute value, you add a negative to your answer.

hope that helps!

The average amount parents and children spent per child on back-to-school clothes in Autumn 2010 was $527. Assume the standard d
Ad libitum [116K]

Answer: a. 0.14085

b. 3.826 x 10^{-3}

c.  0.5437

d. 0.0811

Step-by-step explanation:

Given average amount parents and children spent per child on back-to-school clothes in Autumn 2010 , \mu = $527

Given standard deviation , \sigma = $160

Let X = amount spent on a randomly selected child

Also Z = \frac{X-\mu}{\sigma}

a. Probability(X>$700) = P(\frac{X-\mu}{\sigma} > \frac{700-527}{160}) = P(Z>1.08125) = 0.14085 {Using Z % table}

b. P(X<100) = P( Z < \frac{100-527}{160}) = P(Z< -2.66875) = P(Z > 2.66875) = 3.826 x 10^{-3}

c. P(450<X<700) = P(X<700) - P(X<=450)

   P(X<700) = 1 - P(X>=700) = 1 - 0.14085 = 0.8592

   P(X<=450) = P(Z<= \frac{450-527}{160}) = P(Z<= -0.48125) = P(Z<=0.48125) = 0.3155

   So final   P(450<X<700) =  0.8592 - 0.3155 = 0.5437

d. P(X<=300) = P(Z<= \frac{300-527}{160}) = P(Z<= -1.4188) = P(Z>=1.4188) = 0.0811

All the above probabilities are calculated using Z % table along with interpolation between two values.
