The propeller of a World War II fighter plane is 2.30 m in diameter. (a) What is its angular velocity in radians per second if i
Sergio [31]

Answer with Explanation:

We are given that

Diameter of fighter plane=2.3 m

Radius=r=\frac{d}{2}=\frac{2.3}{2}=1.15 m

a.We have to find the angular velocity in radians per second if it spins=1200 rev/min

Frequency=\frac{1200}{60}=20 Hz

1 minute=60 seconds

Angular velocity=\omega=2\pi f

Angular velocity=2\times \frac{22}{7}\times 20=125.7 rad/s

b.We have to find the linear speed of its tip at this  angular velocity if the plane is stationary on the tarmac.

v=r\omega=1.15\times 125.7=144.56 m/s

c.Centripetal acceleration=\omega^2 r=(125.7)^2(1.15)=18170.56 m/s^2

Centripetal acceleration==\frac{18170.56\times g}{9.81}=1852.25 g m/s^2

A) Draw a pie chart that represents the two types of lung cancer. Show your working.
Sphinxa [80]

Answer:

<em>Please, check the image provided</em>

Explanation:

<u>Pie Charts</u>

They are graphic representations of quantitative results from experimental or theoretical experiences. Instead of showing a table, it's usually preferred to show a graph where the viewer can easily understand the relative relations between the parameters under study.

The chart pie is a circular shape divided into sectors whose areas are proportional to the proportions between each parameter and the total. Since the whole sector of a circle has 360°, each sector will be a proportion or ratio of that angle.

The outcome shown in the table gives us these statistics:

Small Cell Carcinoma : 15%

Non-Small Cell Carcinoma : 85%

Each category has the following angles in the chart pie

Small Cell Carcinoma : 15%*360°=54°

Non-Small Cell Carcinoma : 85%*360°=306°

The first category is shown in blue and the second in green. Please check the image below.

Consider two stars that are identical (same size, temperature and luminosity). Star A is 10 pc away from us and Star B is 20 pc
Mkey [24]

Answer:

Star A would be brighter than Star B

Explanation:

The apparent brightness of a star as perceived on Earth is dependent on its temperature, size, luminosity and distance from the Earth. Apparent brightness is the visible brightness to the eye at the surface of the Earth, while luminosity is the true brightness at the surface of the star.

A hotter star will radiate more energy per second per meter square of surface area. A larger star will have a greater surface area for radiation of energy, thus increasing the luminosity. For two identical stars, the difference in apparent brightness will be dependent on their distances from Earth.

Brightness and distance from earth have an inverse square relationship.

brightness∝\frac{1}{distance^{2} }

Assuming the star is a point source of radiation, as distance from the source is increased, the radiation is distributed over a surface proportional to the distance form the source. As distance is further increased, the radiation is distributed over a larger surface area reducing the effective luminosity.

If one star (Star B) is twice as far from the earth as the first (Star A), the brightness of Star B will be \frac{1}{2^{2} } of Star A.

Thus, Star B will appear to be a quarter of the brightness of Star A. Or, Star A will appear to be 4 times as bright as Star B.
