After a while we moved into an abandoned house, which we used for a schoolhouse, but it was little better than teaching out of d

oors. When it rained the water not only came through the roof, but through the sides as well. During cold winter rains I had to teach while standing with my overcoat on and with arctic rubbers to protect myself against pneumonia. During those rainy days Miss Lee, my assistant, would get up on a bench and stand there all day to keep her feet out of the water and would have an umbrella stretched over her to keep from getting wet from above. The little fellows would be standing in the water below like little ducks. They stood these conditions exceedingly well. Many of them were not protected with overshoes or any shoes, but they came to school each day just as if they had been properly clad.

Answer:

D. the number of pictures contained in this book

Explanation:

When you cite a book or a portion of a book, you would need to know the authors full name, the date the book or article was published, and the page where the information was located. However, the number of pictures included in the book is irrelevant. Since the rest of the answer choices are vital to a citation, the correct answer is D.

How does the difference between the characters spoken words and internial thought affect the story
bulgar [2K]

Answer:

it creates dramatic tension.

Explanation:

Often the authors use the thoughts and words spoken by the characters to create a dramatic tension in the story. For example, a character may be experiencing a terminal illness and he is very worried, sad and hopeless, but when someone asks how he is he smiles and says that he is great. This creates a dramatic tension in the story because the reader knows what is happening and what the character says is different than what he is thinking.

The following question has two parts. Answer Part A first, and then Part B.
DanielleElmas [232]

Cesar Chavez would probably agree that people should act with cooperation and compassion for one another, as shown in option C. The sentence that follows this is:

"I am giving you the same opportunity to join the same cause, to free your fellow human beings from the yoke of oppression."

Why does Chaves believe that people should act with cooperation and compassion?

 • According to Chaves, changes only occur with social cooperation.
 • He believes that social groups marginalized by the government such as blacks, workers, women, among others, must come together to bring about the change they need.
 • However, this union will only occur if people do not act thinking only about themselves, but thinking about everyone who has suffered socially and needs help to prosper in life.

In this way, Chaves shows how King was an example of cooperation and compassion and that's why his words are inspiring.
