Answer:

1. They are tossed up and down in clouds

4. They form ice crystals directly from water vapor.

Explanation:

Hail or Hail pellets is a term that describes the type of frozen precipitation that is greater in size than 5 millimeters in diameter.

Hail are formed through the liquid water which freezes to form hailpellets. This is done through the upward movement in thunderstorm clouds, which is known as updrafts, where by, when the hailpellet nuclei moves to the upper part of the cloud, it falls down and is lifted again.

However, during this upward movement, the hailpellets meets with ice crystals, snow, and supercooled rain , there by, growing in size larger than 5mm.

Hence, after gathering much mass, the hailpellet is taken from the top of the cloud through the intertia or falls from the bottom through gravity.

Therefore, part of the process in the formation of hail pellets includes:

1.  They are tossed up and down in clouds.

2.  They form ice crystals directly from water vapor.

Answer:

John Wesley Powell was an explorer and geologist who led the Powell Geographic Expedition of 1869. This was the first major scientific investigation of long segments of the Green and Colorado rivers in the southwestern United States. Part of this journey included the first ever passage of white men through the entire Grand Canyon. The expedition lasted about three months during the summer of 1869. The party embarked from Green River Station, which was in Wyoming Territory, and then went down the river through parts of what is now the states of Colorado, Utah, and Arizona before reaching the intersection of the Colorado and Virgin rivers (in now Nevada). They faced many difficulties, including losing boats/supplies and some near-drownings. In the end, his voyage created the first detailed description of the previously unexplored canyon country of the Colorado Plateau.
