Given that an average human has a heart rate of 70 beats per minute and if one is to have a 70 year life span, the number of times it will beat is 2,575,440,000 times. This was computed by multiply 70 years by 365 days/year x 24 hours/day x 60 minutes/hour x 70 beats/min. Thus, the heart will beat numerous times before it finally stops.

Answer : The number of beats (N) in the lifetime is 2.6\times 10^9 beats.

Explanation :

First we have to determine the life time (T) of the person in the unit of minutes.

T = 70 year = (70 × 365 × 24 × 60) minutes

Conversions used :

1 year = 365 days

1 day = 24 hours

1 hour = 60 minutes

As we are given the rate (R) of the heart beat  is, 70 beats/minutes.

R = 70 beats/minutes

Now we have to determine the number of beats (N) in the lifetime.

N = RT

N = (70 beats/minutes) × (70 × 70 × 365 × 24 × 60) beats

N = 2.6\times 10^9 beats

Therefore, the number of beats (N) in the lifetime is 2.6\times 10^9 beats.

Carbon dioxide and oxygen enter and exit a leaf by diffusion. which structure(s) on a leaf allow(s) this process to happen?
Montano1993 [528]
The stomata and their guard cells allows this happen.

Stomata is like a hole or gap on a leaf, most of them are present in a bottom side of the leaf, since waxy cuticle is not present over there. And 2 guard cells make up a stomata.

Guard cells are able to control the size of the stomata, depending on the situation. For example, the guard cells close up during day time because a lot of sunlight may cause more water loss.

In conclusion, guard cells and the stomata are the main structures that allow carbon dioxide and oxygen (water too) diffuse in and out of leaves.

All cells do cellular respiration even without light.

Honestly, photosynthesis alone would be right since the teacher didnt  state the questions correctly. But you should choose both cause in the light it does both.

What is a non-native species?
Lapatulllka [165]

Answer:

on-native species can become such a common part of an environment, culture, and even diet that little thought is given to their geographic origin. For example, soybeans, kiwi fruit, wheat, honey bees, and all livestock except the American bison and the turkey are non-native species to North America.
