The x value of the vertex for
ax²+bx+c=y is -b/2a

so

y=2x²+12x+22
b=12
a=2
-b/2a=-12/(2*2)=-12/4=-3

that is x value
to find y value, sub the x value for x

-3 for x
y=2(-3)²+12(-3)+22
y=2(9)-36+22
y=18-14
4

(-3,4) is vertex
