Answer:

It will take Lin an hour and 25 minutes at her constant speed, and it will take Jada at her constant speed an hour and 30 minutes.

SO, Lin will arrive at 4:25

and Jada will arrive at 4:30

There is a 5 minute difference in time.

Step-by-step explanation:

From the facts given, Lin can walk 13 miles in 5 hours which when you divide means she can walk 2.6 mph (miles per hour), and Jada can walk 2.5 mph.

To get these answers you divide the current speeds into the total distance

For example, in Lin's case...

3.25 (The 3 and 1/4 mile converted to decimal form)

2.6 (Lin's Average speed per hour)

3.25/2.6=1.25

1.25 (1 hour and 25 minutes)

Which is true about the degree of the sum and difference of the polynomials 3x5y – 2x3y4 – 7xy3 and –8x5y + 2x3y4 + xy3?
gladu [14]
Sum:

     3x^5*y - 2x^3*y^4 - 7x*y^3
+ -8x^5*y + 2x^3*y^4 +x*y^3
---------------------------------------
     -5x^5y - 6xy^3

Term 1: Degree = 6
Term 2: Degree = 4

Difference:

     3x^5*y - 2x^3*y^4 - 7x*y^3
- -8x^5*y + 2x^3*y^4 +x*y^3
---------------------------------------
     11x^5y - 4x^3*y^4 - 8xy^3

Term 1: Degree = 6
Term 2: Degree = 7
Term 3: Degree = 4

The degree of a term of a polynomial can be obtained by adding the exponents of the variables in that term.

Which interval for the graphed function contams the local
maximum?
Natasha2012 [34]

Answer:

[0,2]

Step-by-step explanation:

A local maximum or local minimum is the point where the tangent drawn to it is parallel to the x axis.

The crest of a wave is local maximum and the trough of wave is local minimum.

Here, in the graph, there are 2 troughs and 1 crest.

The crest is at (1.55,10.8). So, the local maximum is at (1.55,10.8).

The interval of the local maximum is between x = 0 and x = 3.

So, the option that matches with the above interval is [0,2].
