a. A square root is the reverse of square, which means you need to find the number that when multiplied by itself equals the number you are square rooting. So, when we put sqrt(3) in to the calculator, we get 1.73205080757

We need to simplify it in the thousandths place, which is held by a two. The number in the ten thousandths place is a zero, so the 2 stays the same. Your answer for question a is 1.732

b. This question is asking for what number you think \pi or pi is. The number pi is an indefinite number that seems to have no end. The longest amount of the number I can remember is 3.14159265

We need to round it to the thousandths place and the number held in the ten thousandths place is a 5, so we add one more to the number in the thousandths place. Our number is 3.142.

Answers:

a. 1.732

b. 3.142

a. 1.732

because if the number behind the number you are rounding is 5 or greater, you go up a number, but if it is less than 5, then you leave it the same. this applies to both problems.

b. 3.142

Isabella and Tanner are running in a 100-mile relay race. First, Isabella runs for 2 hours and hands off to Tanner, who bicycles
Murljashka [212]

Answer:

5 miles per hour and 15 miles per hour.

Step-by-step explanation:

Given:

Isabella and Tanner are running in a 100-mile relay race.

First, Isabella runs for 2 hours and hands off to Tanner, who bicycles for 6 hours to the finish line.

Tanner's average cycling speed is 5 miles an hour less than 4 times Isabella's average running speed.

Question asked:

what are their speed ?

Solution:

Let average running speed of Isabella = x

Tanner's average cycling speed is 5 miles an hour less than 4 times Isabella's average running speed means,

Tanner's average cycling speed = 4x-5

Now, Distance = speed\times time

As we know that the total distance is 100 mile which is covered by both together,

Distance traveled by Isabella + Distance traveled by Tanner = 100

x\times2 + (4x-5)\times6 = 100\\2x +24x-30=100\\26x-30 =100

Adding both sides by 30

26x =1 30\\

Dividing both sides by 26

x=5

Isabella's average running speed x=5 \ miles \ per \ hour

Tanner's average cycling speed = 4x-5 =4\times5-5 =20 -5 = 15 \ miles\ per \ hour

Therefore, Isabella's average running speed is 5 miles/hour and Tanner's average cycling speed is 15 miles/hour.

Triangle ABC is an obtuse triangle with the obtuse angle at vertex B. Angle A must be
kvv77 [185]
Answer:

Angle A must be acute.

Explanation:

Both angle A and C must be acute. The sum of the angles in a triangle is 180°.

An obtuse angle is more than 90°, so the sum of the remaining 2 angles has to be less than 90°.

Note that it is impossible to have:

2 right angles in a triangle, because 90°+90°=180° and the third angle still needs to be added.1 obtuse and 1 right angle in a triangle, their sum is more than 180°2 obtuse angles in a triangle, their sum is more than 180°

It is possible to have an obtuse-angled isosceles triangle, but the vertex angle must be obtuse and the equal base angles will be acute.
