<em>When water is abundant:</em>

Closed at night
- At night, there is no photosynthesis, so no demand for CO2 inside the leaf.
- Sunny day = demand for CO2 in leaf is high = stomata wide open.
- As there is plenty of water, plant trades water loss for photosynthesis products.
- If the leaf's CO2 concentration is low, the stomata will stay open to continue fueling photosynthesis.
- High temperatures will also signal stomata to close.
- When limited water is available in the soil, plants try to prevent water loss.
I believe the inability to make saliva would affect digestion drastically. The first phase in the process of digestion comes with saliva - it breaks down some substances in your mouth, because it contains amylase which helps during this process. If it weren't for saliva, you probably wouldn't even be able to swallow food - and even if you did, it would be almost impossible to break it down in your body.
The answer is asexual reproduction. This type of reproduction does not involve fusion of gametes. The offspring arise from a single organism and inherit the genes of that parent only. Consequently, there is little variation from parent compared to sexual reproduction.
