A certain airplane has two independent alternators to provide electrical power. the probability that a given alternator will fail on a one-hour flight is 0.019.

This is a binomial probability situation, since it's "pass or fail." The prob. of failure is 0.019. Since the alternators are separate and independent, the prob. that two will fail is the product of 0.019 and 0.019, or 3.61 to the power -4 of 10. The latter can also be written as 0.000361.

The probability that one alternator will fail is 1-0.019, or 0.981.
The probability that neither alternator will fail is (0.981)^2=0.9624 (to four decimal place accuracy).

What is the probability that at least one fails? This probability is equal to the complement of the probability that ONE will fail, which on the TI 84 Plus can be calculated as 1-binompdf(2,0.981,0), which comes out to 0.000361.

What is the sign of the product (−4)(2)(−3)(6)?
lana [24]

Answer:

The sign would be positive.

The answer would be 144.

Step-by-step explanation:

Note that there are two negative numbers and two positive numbers:

positive x positive = positive answer.

negative x negative = positive answer.

Solve:

(-4) * (-3) = 12

2 * 6 = 12

12 * 12 = 144

144 would be your answer.

adobe rent a car company charges a $50 rental free ,$20 for gas and $0.20 per mile driven for the same car vamos card charges $5
Ronch [10]

Answer:

x = 150 miles

Cost = $100

Step-by-step explanation:

Company A = 50 + 20 + 0.20x

= 70 + 0.20x

Company B = 55 + 0.30x

Where,

x =number of miles

find the number of miles for which the companies charge will be the same

Equate the charges of both companies

70 + 0.20x = 55 + 0.30x

70 - 55 = 0.30x - 0.20x

15 = 0.10x

Divide both sides by 0.10

x = 15 / 0.10

= 150

x = 150 miles

The number of miles for which the companies charge will be the same is 150 miles

Substitute 150 miles into any of the companies charges to find the charge

Company B = 55 + 0.30x

= 55 + 0.30(150)

= 55 + 45

= $100
