The risk-benefit assessment is widely used in the field of medicine.  Apart from being therapeutic, it is a known fact that synthetic medicines also carry side effects.  However, if the healthcare provider believes that a certain medication outweighs the side effects, then he or she will prescribe the said medicine.  This is the very reason why the concept of risk-benefit is truly vital.

This can cause miscarriage because of the toxic chemicals that cigarettes bring and are readily absorbed by the fetus when a mother smokes. Not only will it lead to a possible miscarriage, if the baby does survive, he/she might end up with physical abnormalities or mental disorders. This is the reason why mothers should be very careful about the choices they make during pregnancy because the life of a younger being is also at stake.</span></span></span>
