If you split the shape into a triangle and a rectangle you can work out both areas and add them together
The area of a rectangle is length x width so

The area of a triangle is base x height divided by 2 so it would be 6x3 divided by 2 which is 9in
Then you would add both the areas together to get an answer of 9+12 = 21
So the area is 21in
