A community bird-watching society makes and sells simple bird feeders to raise money for its conservation activities. The materi

als for each feeder cost $6, and they sell an average of 20 per week at a price of $10 each. They have been considering raising the price, so they conduct a survey and find that for every dollar increase they lose 2 sales per week. a) Find a function that models weekly profit in terms of price per feeder. b) What price should the society charge for each feeder to maximize profits? c) What is the maximum profit?

Answer:

N(x) = 40 - 2x

P(x) = -2x² + 52 x - 240

maximum profit = 13

Step-by-step explanation:

given data

feeder cost = $6

average sell = 20 per week

price = $10 each

solution

we consider here price per feeder = x

and profit per feeder  id here formula   = x - 6

so that here

total profit will be

P (x)  = ( x - 6 ) Nx

here N(x) is number of feeders sold at price =  x

so formula for N (x)  is here

N(x) = 20 - 2 ( x - 10 )

N(x) = 40 - 2x

so that

P(x) = (x-6) ( 40 - 2x)

P(x) = -2x² + 52 x - 240

since here

a = -2

b = 52

c = -240

a < 0

so quadratic function have maximum value of c - \frac{b^2}{4a}

so it will be

maximum value = -240 - \frac{52^2}{4(-2)}

maximum value = 98

so here maximum profit attained at

x = \frac{-b}{2a}

x = \frac{-52}{2(-2)}

x = 13

maximum profit = 13

A 34-foot pole casts a 30-foot shadow. At the same time, a nearby tree casts a 24-foot shadow. How tall is the tree?
artcher [175]

Answer:

27.2 ft

Step-by-step explanation:

Let's set up a ratio that represents the problem:

Object's Height (ft) : Shadow (ft)

Substitute with the dimensions of the 34 foot pole and its 30 foot shadow.

34 : 30

Find the unit rate:

The unit rate is when one number in a ratio is 1.

Let's make the Shadow equal to one by dividing by 30 on both sides.

Object's Height (ft) : Shadow (ft)

34 : 30

/30  /30

1.13 : 1

Now, let's multiply by 24 on both sides to find the height of the tree.

Multiply:

Object's Height (ft) : Shadow (ft)

1.13 : 1

x24  x24

27.2 : 24

Therefore, the tree is 27.2 feet tall.

Two angles are supplementary one angle measure 12 more than the other find the measures
Furkat [3]
We have a + b = 180 and a = 12 + b;
Then, 12 + b + b = 180;
12 + 2b = 180;
2b = 168;
b = 84;
a = 12 + 84;
a = 96;

Please help with this question!! I need serious help!!
asambeis [7]

Answer:

<h2>The circumference is multipled by 4.</h2>

Step-by-step explanation:

The formula of an area of a circle"

A=\pi r^2

The formula of a circumference of a circle:

C=2\pi r

The area multipled by 16:

16A=16\pi r^2\\\\16A=\pi(4^2r^2)\\\\16A=\pi(4r)^2

The radius has increased fourfold, therefore:

C'=2\pi(4r)=4(2\pi r)=4C

The circumference is multipled by 4.

You can calculate the area and check the circumference:

r=11.6\ in\\\\A=\pi(11.6)^2=132.56\pi\\\\16A=(16)(134.56\pi)=2152.96\pi\ in^2

Calculate the radius:

\pi r^2=2152.96\pi             <em>divide both sides by π</em>

r^2=2152.96\to r=\sqrt{2152.96}\\\\r=46.4\ in

Calculate the circumference of both circles:

r=11.6\ in\\\\C=2\pi(11.6)=23.2\pi\ in

r=46.4\ in\\\\C'=2\pi(46.4)=92.8\pi\ in

\dfrac{C'}{C}=\dfrac{92.8\pi}{23.2\pi}=4\to C'=4C
