How is the pope similar to and different from other bishops?

History
1 answer:
adoni [48]3 years ago
7 0

He is considered to have more authority over the bishops, despite being chosen by them to become the Pope. He was also considered to be the only man who was able to communicate with God in Western society; during the late 70s, it was told that everyone could talk to God. As for similarities, the Pope is in the same Catholic religion, and same education/culture as the other bishops -- he is also very much more well-known to the public.

Why is being able to amend the constitution important??
Yuliya22 [10]
Without amendments, we are stuck with what some guys thought would be nice over 200 years ago. A few things we took out of the constitution by amendment: Slaves count as 3/5 of a person. The incoming president must wait five months after being elected to take office. Electoral college for senators (now--can we get rid of it for presidents?) We also filled in holes that were evident in the constitution, and clarified more rights that people have. The Bill of Rights is all amendments--they wanted a working government first before they decided what limits to put on it. Women were allowed to vote. Someone figured out that if a president becomes sick but doesn't die, the government is in limbo, because the VP couldn't just do the President's job until an amendment was passed saying how it would be determined the Pres was too sick to do his job. Allowing amendments allows mistakes made by the writers of the constitution to be corrected, and for changes they didn't for see to be allowable.

Describe how one of Thomas Edison's inventions changed American life?
PilotLPTM [1.2K]

Thomas Edison's invention of the light bulb changed American life tremendously. Thomas Edison was known for inventing what is called the light bulb, and that made a huge impact to have Americans live on a daily basis. Americans had a hard time seeing things in the dark, which caused a lot of complications when it comes to completing tasks or just going through and out buildings. Because of this invention, Americans could easily see things when inside a house, building, and when it's night time. The light bulb gave light so people can do tasks without having to do them in the dark. Without the light bulb, it would be very complicated to do things in the dark, and people would have a hard time going through the night or dark places.
