Artificial Selection is a form of selection in which humans actively choose which traits should be passed onto offspring. Humans

have used selective breeding long before Darwin's ideas on natural selection and the discovery of genetics. Farmers chose cattle with beneficial traits such as larger size or producing more milk, and bred them and although they may have known nothing about genes, they knew that the beneficial traits could be inherited. The farmers selected for certain traits in their cattle and probably noticed that the offspring were becoming more and more productive with each generation. Most breeds of household dogs that exist today are due to artificial selection. The original bloodline is from wolf-like animals that were domesticated and bred for more docile traits. Now we have a huge range of dog breeds. Hunting is a form of artificial selection. Defend or refute this statement based on the principles of artificial selection.
A) Hunting is not a form of artificial selection but a form of natural selection. The strongest survive; the weakest are culled and killed. The superior traits are passed down to the next generations.
B) Hunting is also a form of artificial selection, with the genes that humans want (i.e., the buck with the most points on his antlers), is bred into the gene pool, allowing the them to pass on to future generations.
C) Hunting is a form of artificial selection. Hunters tend to weed out the weakest of any population, deer, fish, quail, and leave the stronger. The traits of the stronger members are then passed down to future generations.
D) Hunting is a form of negative artificial selection, with the genes that humans want (i.e., the biggest buck or largest fish), being removed from the gene pool, allowing the less wanted genes to pass on to the next generation.

Central dogma includes the following:

The DNA codes for the production of messenger RNA (mRNA) during transcription.

In eukaryotic cells, the mRNA is processed and migrates from the _________ to the _________.

Messenger RNA carries coded information to the __________. where this information is translated and used i for protein synthesis.

Fill in the blanks within the text.
A) nucleus, cytoplasm, ribosome
B) nucleus, ribosome, Golgi complex
C) ribosome, ER, Golgi complex

The answers to the given questions are:

D) Hunting is a form of negative artificial selection, with the genes that humans want (i.e., the biggest buck or largest fish), being removed from the gene pool, allowing the less wanted genes to pass on to the next generation.

We'll use the option A) nucleus, cytoplasm, ribosome to fill the blanks.

In eukaryotic cells, the mRNA is processed and migrates from the nucleus to the cytoplasm.

Messenger RNA carries coded information to the ribosome. where this information is translated and used i for protein synthesis.

The dart thrower was throwing at the bullseye. what is the best description of this attempt?
stepan [7]

Answer:

A. Accurate but not precise

Step-by-step explanation:

The illustration given shows that the was far from each other which means it is not precise because precision is that the given data must be close to each other. However, it is accurate because the darts are closer to the bullseye which can still be considered as accurate. Therefore, I believe this is accurate but not precise.

On which structure would you expect to find a body map
krok68 [10]

On which structure would you expect to find a body map?

a. frontal lobe

b. temporal lobe

c. occipital lobe

d. thalamus

e. brain stem

Frontal lobe expect to find a body map.

a. frontal lobe

Explanation:

The frontal projection is the piece of the cerebrum that controls significant. The correct side of the equator of the frontal projection controls the left piece of the body and the other way around. This can decide how the body is influenced by mind damage.

The frontal projections are viewed as our enthusiastic control focus and home to our character. There is no other piece of the cerebrum where sores can cause such a wide assortment of side effects (Kolb and Wishaw, 1990).

The frontal projections are engaged with engine work, critical thinking, immediacy, memory, language, inception, judgment, drive control, and social and sexual conduct.

A phycologist is interested in determining the proportion of algae samples from a local rivulet that belonged to a particular ph
Reptile [31]

Answer:

The proportion 'p-hat' that were cyanobacteria is 0.76

Explanation:

The proportion of cyanobacteria is the relationship between the whole sample and the actual quantity of cyanobacteria found in the sample, that were not other algae. In general, proportions are written as fractions. The numerator is the number of cyanobacteria in the sample, while the denominator is the total number of organisms in the sample.

So, in the exposed example we know that

  • The sample was composed of 50 algae
  • There were two categories for the sample: algae that were cyanobacteria, and algae that were not cyanobacteria
  • Algae that were cyanobacteria = 38
  • Algae that were not cyanobacteria = 12

If we want to study the relationship between the sample and cyanobacteria and express it as a proportion, then we need to divide the number of cyanobacteria by the number of algae in the sample. This is

38/50 ----> Fraction expression of the relationship between cyanobacteria

                  and the sample

0.76 ----> Proportion of cyanobacteria in the whole sample.
