the gravitational force that earth exerts on the moon equals 2.03 x 10^20N. The moons mass is 7.35 x 10^22kg. What is the accele
Ghella [55]

The first time we read this, we think that we'll have to go look up a bunch of stuff about the gravitational constant, centripetal force, orbital mechanics, the Moon's period of revolution, and who knows whut owl !

But you know whut ? The only thing we need is Newton's 2nd law:

F = m A

Divide each side by m :

Acceleration = Force / mass

Acceleration = (2.03 x 10²⁰ Newtons) / (7.35 x 10²² kg)

Acceleration = (2.03 x 10²⁰ / 7.35 x 10²² kg) (m/s²)

Acceleration = 0.00276 m/s²

A 3.00 kg cart on a frictionless track is pulled by a string so that it accelerates at 2.00m/s/. What is the tension in the stri
Juliette [100K]

Answer: the answer is 35.4

Explanation: the formula is mass x acceleration = tension - weight

weight is (3kg x 9.8 m/s)

acceleration is 2 m/s

mass = 3kg

A sled is on an icy (frictionless) slope that is 30° above the horizontal. When a 40-N force, parallel to the incline and direct
son4ous [18]

Answer: 5.8kg

Explanation:

F - mg sinΦ = ma

Given that

M=?

g= 9.8

Φ= 30

a= 2

F= 40 then

40 - 9.8 * m * sin 30 = 2 * m

40 = 2 * m + 9.8 * m * sin 30

40 = (2 + 9.8 * sin 30) m

m = 40 / (2 + 9.8 * 0.5)

m = 40 / (2 + 4.9)

m = 40 / 6.9

m = 5.797kg

m = 5.8kg
