If a client/patient has never been vaccinated for the Varicella and now has been exposed, they cannot be vaccinated. Since the patient is now taking oral corticosteroids the nurse needs to make a fast intervention. The client/patient will need to given another medicine to help them not catch varicella. The medicine that should be given to the client/patient is called acyclovir.
