So, the age of Jose = 3x years

And of Penelope = 5(3x) = 15x years

It is given , that the sum of there ages = 57, that is

$x+3x+15x = 57$

$19x =57$

x =3

Therefore, age of Elliot = 3 years, and that gives, age of Jose = 9 years
