You're trying to solve for x (get x by itself) so you divide 3x by 3, and what you do on one side you do to the other so you divide 29/3 which equals (x=9.66666667)

You want to have your x alone so you would get rid of the 3. to do that you must do the opposite of what it's saying which it is multiplying so you would divide 3 and do it on both sides. so 3/3 cancels eachother out and now you have to divide 29 and 3 and that is what x equals

1)I buy something for $20.i sell it for $35.is it a profit or a loss,and by how much?
Elena-2011 [213]

Answer:

Its a loss.

Step-by-step explanation:

This is because when you buy something for $20 and sell it for 35$ you lose money. After buying and selling youʻre only left with $15 which is less than the $20 you had in the first place.

The table below shows the data for a random sample of fish that were collected from and later released into a lake: type of fish
Gwar [14]
You were given the data as statistics so that you can predict the number of a certain type of fish through ratio and proportion. The main focus here is then number of bluegill fish. From the given statistics, the number is 87. The total number of fishes at that time was 52+61+87 = 200. So, assuming that this composition is uniform in the said lake. We can then use the ratio from the given statistics to know the proportion of bluegills to the total fishes. Hence, we equate the two ratios:

87/200 = x/800

where x is the number of bluegills among the 800 total fishes that is in proportion to the gathered statistics. Solving for x, we determine the answer to be

x = 348

Q3.
Xelga [282]

Answer:

x = 12

Step-by-step explanation:

Given x varies as the cube root of y then the equation relating them is

x = k\sqrt[3]{y} ← k is the constant of variation

To find k use the condition x = 6 when y = 8, thus

k = \frac{x}{\sqrt[3]{y} } = \frac{6}{\sqrt[3]{8} } = \frac{6}{2} = 3

x = 3\sqrt[3]{y} ← equation of variation

When y = 64, then

x = 3 × \sqrt[3]{64} = 3 × 4 = 12
