Chemistry

Answer & Explanation:

  • To convert between moles and atoms, we must mention that:

<em>Every 1.0 mole of an atom or molecule contains Avogadro's no. of molecules (6.022 x 10 ²³).</em>

  • If we have an atom X and has n moles, we can get the no. of atoms of X in n moles using cross multiplication.

1.0 mole of X contains → 6.022 x 10 ²³ atoms.

n moles of X contains → ??? atoms.

∴ no. of atoms in n moles of X = (n moles)(6.022 x 10 ²³) / (1.0 mole).

  • If we have a compound AB₂, and has n no. of moles of the compound.

1.0 mole of AB₂ contains → 6.022 x 10 ²³ molecules.

n moles of AB₂ contains → ??? molecules.

∴ no. of molecules in n moles of compound AB₂ = (n moles)(6.022 x 10 ²³) / (1.0 mole).

  • Every 1.0 molecule of AB₂ contains 1.0 atom of A and 2.0 atoms of B.

∴ no. of atoms of A in n moles of compound AB₂ = (n moles)(6.022 x 10 ²³) / (1.0 mole).

∴ no. of atoms of B in n moles of compound AB₂ = 2 [(n moles)(6.022 x 10 ²³) / (1.0 mole)].

If you have 3.50 moles of hydrogen and 5.00 moles of nitrogen to produce ammonia, which element is the reactant in excess? 3H2 +
kicyunya [14]

Answer:

nitrogen

Explanation:

The stoichiometry of the reaction says that H_{2} and  N_{2} react 3:1 to form 2 moles of  NH_{3}, so, if you have 3,5 moles of H, which is equal to 1,75 moles of  H_{2}, and 5 moles of N, which are equal to 2,5 moles of  n_{2}. only\frac{1,75 moles of H2}{3}=0.583 moles of  N_{2}, will react, leaving <em>1.917 moles of </em> N_{2} <em>unreacted</em>, and forming 0.583*2=1.166 moles of  NH_{3}
