Answer:

P(A ∩ B) = \frac{11}{15}

Step-by-step explanation:

If P(A)=2/3, P(B)=4/5, and P(A U B) =11/15

we need to find out  P(A ∩ B)

P(A U B) = P(A) + P(B) - P(A ∩ B)

Now we add P(A ∩ B) on both sides and subtract P(A U B) from both sides

P(A ∩ B) = P(A) + P(B)- P(A U B)

now we plug in the values

P(A ∩ B) = \frac{2}{3} + \frac{4}{5} - \frac{11}{15}

Make the denominators same . LCD  is 15

P(A ∩ B) = \frac{10}{15} + \frac{12}{15} - \frac{11}{15}

P(A ∩ B) = \frac{22}{15}-\frac{11}{15}

P(A ∩ B) = \frac{11}{15}

Melanie eats 1.5 pounds of cereal each week. Which model below best represents the number of pounds of cereal she eats in .5 wee
Katena32 [7]
For this case, the first thing we must do is define a variable.
 We have then:
 x: number of weeks
 y: amount of cereal that Melanie eats
 We now write the function that models the problem:
 y = 1.5x

 Then, for 5 weeks we have:
 y = 1.5 (5)

y = 7.5 pounds
 Answer:

In a certain Algebra 2 class of 30 students, 18 of them play basketball and 9 of them
marshall27 [118]

Probability that a student will play both is 7/30

Step-by-step explanation:

Total students = 30

No. of students who play basketball = 18

Probability that a student will play basketball = 18/30

= 3/5

No. of students who play baseball = 9

Probability that a student will play baseball = 9/30

= 3/10

No. of students who play neither sport = 10

Probability that a student will play neither sport = 10/30

= 1/3

To find :

Probability that a student will play both = p(student will play both)

No.of students who play sport = 30 - 10

= 20

Out of 20 students 18 play basketball and 9 play baseball.

So, some students play both the sports.

No. of students who play both sports = 18 + 9 - 20

= 7

p(student will play both) = 7/30

Probability that a student will play both is 7/30
