The CIA investigated hypnosis as a possible tool for interrogating prisoners. But the idea did not result as they wished because for hypnosis to work out, it needs a kind of a relationship in that the patient trust the people doing the process of hypnosis. And that was not the case with prisoners or spies, who they never trusted the CIA methods of interrogation. And of course, prisoners have their own secrets to keep, so there is no trust at all in the relationship.
