The right answer is metabolism.

Metabolism defines the set of coupled reactions occurring in the cells of the body. It consists of two opposing mechanisms:

* Catabolism: it allows the extraction of energy from nutrients, by degradation of energy molecules (carbohydrates, lipids ...);

* Anabolism: it allows to synthesize the constituents necessary for the structure and the proper functioning of the cells.

Basal metabolism is also contrasted with metabolism in activity.

The decline in the U.S. bat population has reached critical proportions. Since 2006, more than six million bats in 33 states hav
kozerog [31]

Significant historic bat declines over the last century were blamed on agricultural intensification, loss of habitat and roosts through development and exclusion from buildings. Today's main threats include land use practices, climate change, pollution, development and infrastructure, and human disturbance.

What is white-nose syndrome caused by?

White-nose syndrome is caused by a fungus, Pseudogymnoascus destructans, that infects skin of the muzzle, ears, and wings of hibernating bats.

Can humans get white-nose syndrome?

Thousands of people have visited affected caves and mines since White-nose Syndrome (WNS) was first observed, and there have been no reported human illnesses attributable to WNS. We are still learning about WNS, but we know of no risk to humans from contact with WNS-affected bats.

Is there a cure?

Not yet. Some promising interventions are being researched, such as naturally occurring bacteria that seem to limit the growth of the white-nose fungus. However, these treatments need to be carefully tested before widespread release in the environment, to make sure they'll actually be helpful, and not cause more stress to either bats or the ecosystems in which they live.

This is because cells respire constantly, as this process uses up oxygen cells will contain less oxygen than its surroundings. Oxygen moves by the process of diffusion, in diffusion a molecule will always move from a higher concentration to a lower concentration.

Mitosis is the process in which cells divide to form new cells. The cell that is being described under the microscope is already in the Anaphase stage in mitosis.

Anaphase is the process in which two sister chromatids separate and move to opposite poles of the cell. These two sister chromatids contain identical copies of DNA that are joined at the middle called centromere. The chromosomes are separated by the mitotic spindle. Towards the end of the anaphase the two sister chromatids now have their two separate poles. The mitotic process then proceeds to the Telophase.
