ANSWER

The first three expressions will simplify to a rational answer.

EXPLANATION

Let us simplify the expressions then we can see which of them are rational.

A.

7\sqrt{3} \times \sqrt{3}

We multiply out the roots to get

7\sqrt{3} \times \sqrt{3}=7 \times (\sqrt{3})^2

This simplifies to

7\sqrt{3} \times \sqrt{3}=7 \times 3

7\sqrt{3} \times \sqrt{3}=21

This is a rational number hence the answer is rational.

B.

\sqrt{5} \times \sqrt{5}=(\sqrt{5})^2

\sqrt{5} \times \sqrt{5}=5

This is also a rational solution.

C.

2\sqrt{9} \times \sqrt{4}=2\times3\times2

2\sqrt{9} \times \sqrt{4}=12

This one too is a rational solution.

D.

\sqrt{3} \times \sqrt{16}=\sqrt{3}\times4

\sqrt{3} \times \sqrt{16}=4\sqrt{3}

This is an irrational answer because √3 is an irrational number and multiplying a rational number, 4 by an irrational number results in an irrational number.

A rectangle and a square have the same area. The width of the rectangle is 2 in less than the side of the square and the length
lina2011 [118]
The area of a rectangle is A=LW, the area of a square is A=S^2.

W=S-2 and L=2S-3

And we are told that the areas of each figure are the same.

S^2=LW, using L and W found above we have:

S^2=(2S-3)(S-2)  perform indicated multiplication on right side

S^2=2S^2-4S-3S+6  combine like terms on right side

S^2=2S^2-7S+6  subtract S^2 from both sides

S^2-7S+6=0  factor:

S^2-S-6S+6=0

S(S-1)-6(S-1)=0

(S-6)(S-1)=0, since W=S-2, and W>0, S>2 so:

S=6 is the only valid value for S.  Now we can find the dimensions of the rectangle...

W=S-2 and L=2S-3  given that S=6 in

W=4 in and L=9 in

So the width of the rectangle is 4 inches and the length of the rectangle is 9 inches.

15. The container shown in the figure is filled with a liquid that weighs 50 g. Find its density.
3241004551 [841]

Answer:

  C.  0.006 g/cm³

Step-by-step explanation:

As the units tell you, density is the ratio of mass to volume. The volume of the container is found from ...

  V = πr²h = π(10 cm)²(25 cm) = 2500π cm³

Then the density is ...

  ρ = (50 g)/(2500π cm³) = 1/(50π) g/cm³

  ρ ≈ 0.006 g/cm³

_____

<em>Comment on the problem</em>

The "liquid" has about the same density as air pressurized to 75 psi.

A)
To be similar triangles have to have equal angles
triangle ZDB'
1)angle Z=90 degrees
triangle B'CQ
1) angle C 90 degrees

angle A'B'Q=90
DB'Z+A'B'Q+CB'Q=180, straight angle
DB'Z+90+CB'Q=180
DB'Z+CB'Q=90

triangle ZDB'
DZB'+DB'Z=180-90=90

DB'Z+CB'Q=90
DZB'+DB'Z=90
DB'Z+CB'Q=DZB'+DB'Z
2)CB'Q=DZB' (these angles from two triangles ZDB' and B'CQ )
3)so,angles DB'Z and B'QC are going to be equal because of sum of three angles in triangles =180 degrees and 2 angles already equal.
so this triangles are similar by tree angles
b)
B'C:B'D=3:4
B'D:DZ=3:2
CQ-?
DC=AB=21
DC=B'C+B'D (3+4= 7 parts)
21/7=3
B'C=3*3=9
B'D=3*4=12
B'D:DZ=3:2
12:DZ=3:2
DZ=12*2/3=8
B'D:DZ=CQ:B'C
3:2=CQ:9
CQ=3*9/2=27/2

c)
BC=BQ+QC=B'Q+QC
BQ' can be found by pythagorean theorem
