I'm pretty sure it's A b/c you have to move the 3 to the other side so

Ix+1I<7

x+1<7 -----> x<6

x+1<-7 ------> x<-8 which is already covered

Don't hold me to it but I believe that is the answer

Remark

You need to solve the absolute value equation.

abs(x + 1) - 3 < 4 Add 3 to both sides.

abs(x +1) < 4 + 3

abs(x+1) < 7

This can have to results.

Result One

x + 1 < 7 Subtract 1 from both sides

x < 6

Result Two

x + 1 > - 7 The sign switches. Try two values to convince yourself. x = - 7 and x = - 9

x > - 8

The answer is B

Hello,

Let 's a the width,
b the heigth

2a+b=80==>b=80-2a

Area=A(a,b)=a*b=a*(80-2a)
=-2a²+80a
=-2(a²-2*20a+20²-20²)
=-2(a-20)² +800
Area is maxi if a=20 and area max=800

Let 2 numbers are x and y
2(x+y) = 24
x = 2y

substitute x = 2y into 2(x+y) = 24

2(x+y) = 24
2(2y+y) = 24
2(3y) = 24
6y = 24
   y = 4
x = 2y = 2(4) = 8
smallest of the two numbers are 4

What is the solution to the following system of equations?
Paraphin [41]

Answer:

Option 2 ( 1,-10)

Step-by-step explanation:

The two equations are y = -x²-5x-4 -----(1)

                              and y = -x²+9x-18-------(2)

To get the solution of these lines we will substitute the value of y form equation 1 to 2.

- x² - 5x -4 = -x²+9x-18

Now by collecting similar terms on each side.

-x² -5x + x²-9x = -18 + 4

-14x = -14

14x = 14

x = 1

By putting the value of x in equation 1.

y = -1 - 5 - 4 = -10

So the solution is (1, -10)

Therefore Option 2 is the correct answer.
