The correct answer is A)  traders provided a regular supply of guns to tribal leaders.

There was continuous political instability in West Africa between 1500 and 1700 because traders provided a regular supply of guns to tribal leaders.

When the European colonies started to arrive in the western territories of Africa, there already were divisions and conflicts due to ethnicities and territorial conflicts. From 1550 to 1700, European traders brought many weapons that were sold in the region. For instance, the leaders of Songhai, Mali, or Ghana bough that weaponry from traders to strengthen their power and control over their rival tribes.

What does the history of 14th century Black Plague teach us about possible economic and environmental impacts on our society aft
lozanna [386]

Answer:

The history of the Black Plague serves to project the environmental and economic consequences of the current coronavirus pandemic, given the similarities between both historical events.

Thus, the Black Plague implied, like the current pandemic, an almost total cessation of economic activities at the global level, causing a consequent increase in poverty rates, with the consequent decrease in the population's standard of living.

But, on the other hand, the decrease in production during the Plague had beneficial effects for the environment, since it decreased the increasing rates of environmental pollution at that time. In this sense, a similar situation is being experienced in the present, since restrictions on certain activities and circulation in general have slowed down the already advanced global pollution process.

Compare and contrast the roles of slaves and freemen in the Roman Republic.
Marizza181 [45]

Answer:

1. Roman slavery was not based on race so sometimes it was hard to differ if someone was a slave or not (everyone looked similar).

2. Both roles are pretty similar except for the fact that slaves are forced into labor work and freed men work on their own free will and are treated better.

3. Slaves are abused and treated badly and freemen aren't.

4. Slaves were used in all forms of work except for public office.

5. Often times employed men and slaves would work together except that the free employed men would get paid and the slaves wouldn't (this usually happened when one cannot find enough slaves to work and can only conclude to using paid workers so that's when they end up getting mixed together).

The role of slaves and freemen seem very similar in a lot of aspects (despite the fact that slaves cannot work in public office) but they are ranked by their parents (if your parents are slaves then you're born a slave) and slaves can also be chosen out of something like a battle. If they lose they are taken in as slaves. What I'm trying to say is that freedom was not a right but a privilege for people in the Roman Republic. Things like battles were used to justify and confirm superiority over the losers and gave the winners divine right to rule over the losers (slaves) and treat them badly. At a point the slaves were practically invisible.

During the summer of 1862, Lincoln concluded that emancipation had become a political and military necessity. Many factors contr
mezya [45]

B. hope that emancipated slaves might help meet the army's growing manpower needs

C. changing northern public opinion and the calculation that making slavery a target of the war effort would counteract sentiment in Britain for recognition of the Confederacy

Explanation:

  • Published in 1862, the Proclamation was made public on January 1, 1863. In it, Abraham Lincoln carefully spells out provisions and procedures that will not only ensure victory in the Union, but also the freedom of those currently enslaved.
  • Lincoln first declares that all slaves are freed in the rebellious states, leaving slavery still in the border states to ensure their loyalty. Lincoln also declares that all slaves who choose to fight for the Union will be given freedom.
  • More than 180,000 African-American soldiers joined the Union, which proved to be critical to the Union's victory. The document itself was the key to ending the civil war and slavery in the United States.
  • Lincoln proclaimed political success by proclaiming the Southerners as barbarians in the eyes of Europeans who want to maintain the slave system. The United Kingdom and France, which had previously sympathized with the Confederacy of Independence struggle, are now turning their support to the Union.
