In Of Pride and Prejudice, Mr. Bennet says this to his wife and shows an example of verbal irony.

Pride and Prejudice is an 1813 romantic novel by Jane Austen which deals with the emotional development of the main character Elizabeth Bennet, who learns the error of making hasty judgments and starts appreciating the difference between the superficial and the essential.
