I believe you're learning geometry. Anyways, here are examples of natural numbers: 1, 2, 3... Meanwhile, here are examples of whole numbers: 0, 1, 2, 3... Natural numbers are all the positive whole numbers. Whole numbers are quantities that are both positive and neutral, and don't include any fractions or decimals.

Alona [7]
Basically you know that they are 2 consecutive numbers whose product is 1980.
n*(n+1)=1980
n^2 + n - 1980 = 0
(n -44)(n + 45)= 0
n=44
so the 2 page numbers is 44 and 45.

The faster way is just to take the square root of 1980 and since that is 44.497 you can conclude that the 2 numbers is below and above it (44, 45)

8. myles had 103 coins in a jar - all nickels, dimes, and quarters. if the total value of the coins is $15
Ivanshal [37]

If the total value of the coins is $15. The number of each type of coin is: 31 quarters, 72 dimes.

Number of each type of coin

Let D = number of dimes

Let Q = the number of quarters

Equations

d + q = 103

0.10d + 0.25q = 15

d = 103 -q

0.10(103 -q) + 0.25q = 15

10.3 - 0.10q + 0.25q = 15

0.15q = 4.7

q=4.7/0.15

q=31 quarters

Substitute q into second equation

D+31=103

D=72 dimes

Therefore the number of each type of coin is: 31 quarters, 72 dimes.
